INDEX

[51] Probably George Burr Wescott, 2 generations later Robert Wescott & Hannah Little Noyes/Wescott named their 2nd child likewise.

Alfred Matthes's "History of Wayne Pike & Monroe Counties Pennsylvania" Pg.137 George B. Wescott, appointed by Governor Wolf, Jan. 1832, prothonotary and clerk; reappointed by Governor Wolf, Jan. 1833, prothonotary, clerk and register. Pg.149 In 1829, George B. Wescott and John D. Taylor, of the Philadelphia bar, were added to the list of resident attorneys. They were chiefly employed, however, as land agents for Philadelphia owners. About the year 1831, Earl Wheeler, (Picture on Pg. 167) of the Susquehanna County bar, removed to Bethany. ... In 1836, Mr. Wescott died. Pg.150 ... Wescott was engaged mainly in other avocations, and gave little attention to professional business. Pg.166 George B. Wescott studied law with William Rawle, in Philadelphia, and was there admitted to practice. He subsequently came to Wayne County as an agent for Philadelphia owners of lands in the county. He was admitted to the bar of Wayne April 27, 1829, but appears to have given little attention to practice. In 1831 he was appointed prothonotary, and held the office for four years. He died at Bethany November 28, 1836, aged 31 years.

George B Wescott's grave site details.

(Pg.467 S. N. Westcott became pastor of Damascus First Baptist Church Oct. 1880-1882. (Rev. S. N. Westcott (with middle 't') was confirmed Feb. 2014 with records of First Baptist Church of Damascus PA, and he came from McGrawville, NY and apparently not closely related to George Wescott.)
