[146] Emigrant with his parents in the ship "James" in 1635. Was made a Freeman
in 1650 & a Selectman in 1688. (A Selectman was: 1) a New England town
officer chosen from among the town board members to carry out the
directives of the board; 2) a New England town board member elected
annually. This board reported persons who were not in church on Sunday
and required anyone walking around town to go to church. These duties
were in addition to regular town business.)
