[166] John Gilman came in the ship "Diligent" with father & family in 1638 when
14 years old. He was a Selectman and took Oath of Allegiance and Fidelity
in 1677 at Exeter, NH. He was appointed by the Crown, one of a Council to
the Assembly, and was Speaker of the House under President Cutts and Gov.
