studying in London the winter of 1938-39.
M.B.E. signifies 'Member of the British Empire', an award for her work in
Hong Kong as head of the Girl Guides (Girl Scouts to Americans.) Her
husband, Anthony Staple, was similarly honored for his work with W.H.O.
(World Health Organization.)

The afternoon ceremony took place in Christ Church, Lancaster Gate,
